Jackson County man accused of child molesting

A Jackson County man is facing a child molesting charge after an incident this week in Norman.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, deputies received a report Sunday afternoon that a 12 year old girl had been sexually assaulted. Investigators identified the suspect as 61-year-old Robert Canada of Norman.

With the assistance of the Bedford Police Department, Canada was taken into custody on a preliminary felony charge of child molesting.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The Indiana Department of Child Services also assisted in the investigation.
