Ethnic Expo returns for 40th downtown Columbus festival

Ethnic Expo will take to the streets around Columbus City Hall tomorrow.

The 40th celebration of the annual event will feature food, music, an international bazaar and biergarten in the streets around City Hall on Friday and Saturday. Events will kick off with lunch tomorrow starting at 11 a.m..

For the first time since the 1980s, there will be no host country for this year’s event. Jody Coffman, organizer of the event for the city, explains that for the 40th celebration, organizers wanted to return to the tradition of the first years, celebrating all of the community’s cultures.

Coffman says Ethnic Expo will have more food vendors and exhibitors in the bazaar than ever before, a new location for the biergarten and for the first time a food truck area.

Coffman said the additions will require some changes to the festival’s layout.

Ethnic Expo events will be going on until 10 Friday and Saturday nights.
