Input session set for tonight for Columbus parking lot tree project

Columbus officials are looking for your thoughts on new trees to be planted at the city parking lot at the corner of Franklin and 6th streets.

First Presbyterian Church is partnering with the city to apply for a $30,000 grant to replace the trees at the lot with native trees.

According to city and church officials, there will be a public engagement meeting at 6 p.m. tonight at the lot. You will have a chance to see the landscaping plans and to get your thoughts on the trees to be selected. In the case of rain, the session will be moved inside The Armory.

The city plans to replace the existing plants this fall. The city will also be partnering with the Columbus Master’s Gardner Club to maintain all of the plants going forward.

The grant application is due in early May.
