Update: All area counties under travel restrictons

10 p.m. Update

All area counties have declared travel restrictions as of Saturday evening.

Brown and Decatur counties are now under orange travel watches. A travel watch means that conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. During  watch level travel restrictions, only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended, and emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies and other organizations.

Emergency officials in Bartholomew, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson and Shelby counties have all raised their travel restriction status to yellow travel advisories. That is the lowest level of travel restrictions, and means that routine travel could be hazardous in some locations.

Several counties to the south, including Clark, Floyd, Crawford and Orange counties, have declared more restrictive red travel warnings. Under a red travel warning, you are directed to refrain from all travel, comply with necessary emergency measures, cooperate with public officials and disaster services forces in executing emergency operations plans  and obey and comply with the lawful directions of properly identified officers.

A winter storm warning remains in effect for our area until 7 a.m. Monday morning with between 9 and 13 inches of snow expected. A cold weather advisory is expected to go into effect from midnight Sunday through midnight Monday.
