Man to serve 2+years in prison after meth related arrest

A Bartholomew County judge has sentenced a man to two and a half years in prison after a struggle with deputies earlier this year.

According to the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s office, a deputy was trying to serve a civil process at a home in Bartholomew County in January. The deputy talked to Randall Roberts who was on the patio at the home, but Roberts said he did not live at the home and did not know the person being served. However, the deputy became suspicious, saying that Roberts appeared to be on methamphetamine and that meth was out in plain view on the patio.

The deputy went to take Roberts into custody, but a struggle broke out. Roberts was taken into custody on charges for possessing the meth and for resisting law enforcement.

Roberts pleaded guilty in April. Last week, Superior Court 1 Judge Jim Worton sentenced Roberts to two and a half years in the Indiana Department of Corrections prison system for the drug charge and a year in county jail for the resisting charge, with the two sentences to run concurrently.
