Most rivers returning to normal, but heavy rain in forecast

Flooding continues on East Fork White River at Seymour, with the river dropping to the minor flood stage early this morning.

The river is at 16.8 feet this morning, just below the 17 foot moderate flood level. According to river gauge estimates, the river isn’t expected to completely drop below flood level until Thursday morning.

The river at Seymour crested at 19.49 feet last week with major flooding, the seventh highest river level since the record of 21 feet was set in 1913

At Columbus, the flood warning was canceled overnight after the river dropped below the minor flood level early Sunday morning.

The flood warning on Driftwood River at Edinburgh has also been canceled after it dropped below minor flooding last night.

But forecasters are warning of heavy rain Tuesday into Wednesday that could delay area rivers and streams returning to normal level. They say that 1 to 2 inches more possible across our area.
