New Columbus police officers sworn in

The Columbus Police Department is welcoming two new officers.

According to the department, officers Brett Ballenger and Aaron Harness were sworn in yesterday by Mayor Mary Ferdon in a ceremony at Columbus City Hall.

Ballenger is originally from Centerville and holds a bachelors degree from Ball State University.

Harness is from Shelbyville and has worked in manufacturing. He has an associates degree from Ivy Tech and is working towards a bachelor’s degree.

The two will be going through the department’s training program before leaving for the 15-week Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in early January.
