North Vernon police honor officer of the year
The North Vernon Police Department is recognizing Officer Graham Heffelfinger as the agency’s Officer of the Year.
According to the North Vernon police, Heffelfinger transferred from the Madison Police Department in September of 2024 and serves as the department’s Narcotics Task Force Commander. He also oversees and manages the Reserve Officer Program, and serves as the department’s Public Information Officer.
Heffelfinger has also written multiple grants that have brought in tens of thousands of dollars in funding and equipment.
The police department says his leadership, initiative, and commitment to excellence set a high standard, making him deserving of the recognition.
The department also recognized Officer Chris Allen with the Hard Charger Award, which is based on performance metrics. The police say that Allen has distinguished himself through his consistent productivity, proactive policing, and relentless work ethic.
