Parking lot incident leads to felony conviction

A Bartholomew County man has been found guilty of a felony indecency charge.

According to the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s office, Charles Albertson Jr. was found guilty of public indecency yesterday after a jury trial. That came after an incident in April of 2024, when Columbus police officers were called to a store parking lot after reports of a man exposing himself. An investigation by Columbus and Edinburgh police officers led to Alberton’s arrest.

The jury deliberated for two hours before finding Albertson guilty.

Prosecutor Lindsey Holden said that the “guilty verdict is a reminder that conduct that threatens the safety and dignity of others will not be dismissed or minimized.”

Deputy Prosecutors Jordan Lorenzo and Mat Taylor presented the case.
