Reckless driving reports lead to North Vernon arrest

A Saturday report of reckless driving in North Vernon led to the arrest of a Madison woman on drug and alcohol related charges.

According to the North Vernon Police Department, officers received reports of a reckless driver heading northbound near Muscatatuck Park. An officer caught up to the SUV and saw it swerving between lanes, accelerating erratically and nearly colliding with another vehicle. Police say they pulled the vehicle over on North State Street and the driver, 28-year-old Cassondra S. Lockridge showed signs of being impaired including difficulty maintaining her balance and slow movements. She allegedly said that she had taken prescription medications prior to driving.

A search uncovered Xanax pills and a blood test showed a blood alcohol content of .194 percent.

She was arrested on preliminary charges including operating a vehicle while intoxicated with endangerment, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance and a Legend Drug Act violation.
