Seymour police say that an officer helped rescue two people from a flooded vehicle Thursday.

According to the department, Sgt. Gabe Jordan heard dispatchers report a vehicle had run off the road near Cypress Lake and was quickly filling up with water. Although the incident was outside of the city limits, Jordan saw that no other rescue workers were in the vicinity and rushed to the scene.

When he found the submerged pickup, he went into the waist deep water to help the driver escape. He then assisted a female passenger, but because of the strong current, he carried her to safety.

Both victims were treated by Jackson County medics.
