State Road 3 to close near Vernon for culvert work

INDOT will be closing State Road 3 south of Vernon starting next month as contractors replace a box culvert there.

According to the agency, the closing will be between East County Road 125 South and South County Road 50 East starting on June 1st. While the road is closed, drivers should use the detour route, taking S.R. 7 to S.R. 56/62 to S.R. 256 and then back to S.R. 3.

The highway is expected to be closed until mid-July. The work schedule is dependent on the weather.

This work is part of a $2.9 million contract awarded to Dave O’Mara Contractors.
