State Road 46 accident kills Sunman man

A Sunman man died Friday in a two vehicle crash on State Road 46 in Dearborn County.

According to Indiana State Police a van driven by 87-year-old George R. Dever was heading northbound on Lawrenceville Road at about 8 a.m. in the morning when it entered the state highway into the path of a pickup being driven by 18-year-old Wyatt C. Kruthaupt of Batesville, where the pickup struck the driver’s side of the van.

Dever was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dearborn County Coroner’s Office. A passenger in the van suffered serious injuries and was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
