Streets to close for Central Avenue festival Friday at campus

Columbus drivers will see street closures ahead of the All American Festival at the Columbus Municipal Airport’s Airpark Campus on Friday.

According to the Columbus Police Department, starting at noon on Friday Central Avenue will close between Chapa Street and Cunningham Drive. Poshard Drive, west of Wade Drive, and Vickers Drive will also be closing.

Traffic restrictions will go into effect after the fireworks show as police work to direct traffic away from the airport campus. Following the fireworks show, Central Avenue will reopen for southbound traffic but northbound traffic will be restricted north of National Road. Traffic will be funneled along Arnold Street, Poshard Drive and Chapa Street to the main arterial streets of Central Avenue and Middle Road.

Columbus police say that they will have about 15 officers on duty directing traffic, as well as firefighters and medics on hand to try to get everyone home as quickly and safely as possible.
