Van drives into path of train; driver appears uninjured

A van was struck by a train in downtown Columbus this morning, but the driver appeared uninjured.

According to Columbus Police Department, officers were called to the roundabout at Brown, Lindsey and 11th Streets on a reported crash with a train at about 9:17 a.m. this morning. . Police say that the van was driving eastbound on Indianapolis Road when it drove in front of the northbound train, which struck the rear passenger area of the van. The van was spun about and struck tha railroad crossing signal which was knocked over.

The driver of the vehicle, a 56-year-old man, said he was uninjured by was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Indianapolis Road was closed for about an hour.
