Visitors center adding staff to implement master plan
Visit Columbus recently announced staffing changes as the visitors center moves to implement its Destination Master Plan.
Organizers say that the Destination Master Plan completed last year provides a strategic framework for strengthening tourism in Bartholomew County. It identifies opportunities to enhance the visitor experience, to support community partnerships, to promote local assets and to grow the economic impact of tourism.
Visit Columbus recently announced results of a study showing that in 2024 tourism brought in $226 million in spending, generating $126 million in economic impacts for the community and $22.6 million in tax revenue.
Visit Columbus is now moving from its planning process to actual implementation with a greater focus on the goals and a need for more staff support.
The center is adding three new staff members
- Ashton Barrett-Kelsay, Operations and Finance Manager
- Abigail Flout, Special Events and Projects Manage
- Caroline Andress, Marketing Coordinator.
