Authorities urge safety in teens squirt gun “assassination” game

North Vernon authorities are warning about a game being played by high school students that involve simulated assassinations using water guns.

The North Vernon Police Department and Jennings County High School are warning of the game that has raised concerns in other communities where students have gotten in trouble after their antics led to community concerns and law enforcement responses.

In Jennings County’s versions students are not allowed to play the game on school grounds or at workplaces. The toy water guns are intended to be easily identifiable as toys and not easily confused with real weapons.

The Jennings County authorities ask that if you know of any students taking part in the game that you ensure that the water guns are clearly identifiable as fake weapons.

The authorities say that there have not been any issues related to the game in the community and they do not expect any. If you have any questions or concerns you should contact law enforcement.
