Columbus Oktoberfest organizers praise success of first event

Organizers of last week’s Oktoberfest in downtown Columbus are counting their inaugural efforts as a success.

The event, organized by the Office of Downtown Development, was held on Friday, Sept. 26th in downtown Columbus near the historic Crump Theatre. They say that more than 1,200 people came out to attend.

The Oktoberfest event was a collaboration between groups such as the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation German Club, Claas of America, and the Columbus Propeller Inc. Maker Space. Authentic German food and drink was provided by Upland Pumphouse and local food truck entrepreneurs.

Ike De Clue, executive director of the Office of Downtown Development, said the event provided a blend of culture, art and architecture and said it brought life and energy to downtown Columbus.

Sponsors included the Columbus Area Visitors Center , Elwood Staffing, Coca-Cola, Edward Jones, and Toyota Material Handling.
