Crash leaves driver dead in Ripley County
One person is dead after a Sunday afternoon head-on collision in Ripley County.
Authorities say that 37-year-old Tyler Dukes of Madison was driving east on U.S. 50 when for unknown reasons he crossed the centerline into the path of an oncoming semi. Both vehicles overturned after the crash in the westbound lanes.
Dukes was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ripley County Coroner’s Office. The driver of the semi, 26-year-old Richard Murray of Florida was injured. He taken to Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigations.
Also assisting at the scene were the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana Conservation Officers, Holton Fire Department, Versailles Fire Department and Ripley County medics.
