Cummins sees strong growth, upgrades forecast
Cummins is touting strong results for the first quarter of 2026, with a rebound in sales in China, record performance in the Power Systems Segment and the sale of its low-pressure fuel cell business.
The Columbus based engine manufacturer filed its first quarter results yesterday, predicting that revenues for the entire year will be up from 8 to 11 percent, an increase from the 3 to 8 percent previously forecast.
The company announced that first quarter revenues were $8.4 billion, a three percent increase from the same quarter in 2025.
Sales in North America decreased 6 percent but international revenues increased 16 percent, primarily due to stronger demand in China.
Sales in the Engine Segment of $2.7 billion were down 4 percent and in the Component Segment they were down 5 percent at $2.5 billion. But the Distribution Segment sales were $3.1 billion up 7 percent, and the Power Systems Segment were up 19 percent to $2 billion dollars.
Sales in the Accelera Segment of $101 million were down two percent and reflected a loss of $277 million. Jennifer Rumsey, Cummins Chair and CEO, said that the results included charges of $199 million related to the sale of the low-pressure fuel cell business. She said that reflects lowering of expectations for hydrogen power adoption and continuing commitment to focus investments and reduce losses in the Accelera segment.
