Flood warnings ongoing as heavy rain runoff continues

Flood warnings are in effect for parts of our area after last night’s storms dropped up to four inches of rain in some places.

The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for southern Bartholomew and east central Jennings counties until 10:30 a.m. as excessive runoff is causing flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Areas that could see flooding include Columbus, Elizabethtown, Jonesville, Azalia, Waymansville, Butlerville and Nebraska.

Emergency officials urge you to turn around and don’t drown. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
