North Vernon police make arrest in drug-dealing investigation

An Indianapolis man was arrested on drug related charges in North Vernon last week after an investigation into narcotics distribution.

According to the North Vernon Police Department, officers with the agency’s narcotics enforcement task force conducted what they called a complex operation into the distribution of methamphetamine. During the operation, the suspect, James W. Baker, allegedly attempted to flee in a vehicle and then resist law enforcement before being taken into custody at about 11:15 p.m. Thursday night.

Baker was arrested on preliminary charges of:

  • Dealing in Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Obstruction of Justice
  • Resisting Law Enforcement (Vehicle Flight)
  • Resisting Law Enforcement
  • Driving While Suspended Prior
  • Possession of Paraphernalia

The Jennings County Sheriff’s Department also assisted in the investigation.
