Teen hospitalized after being struck by pickup

A 13-year-old boy is recovering after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday in downtown Columbus.

According to Columbus Police Department, rescue workers were called to Fifth and Lindsey Streets at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday on reports of an accident with injuries.

Police and firefighters arrived and found a juvenile that had been struck by a vehicle and suffered a possible head injury. The child was flown by helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment.

Police say that the driver of a pickup truck was traveling south on Lindsey Street when the boy crossed Lindsey going east at Fifth Street where he was struck by the vehicle.

Police say the boy is believed to be in stable condition.

The investigation remains ongoing.
