Three facing charges after Bean Blossom store shooting

Three people have been arrested after a weekend shootout over a gun sale at a Brown County store.

According to the Brown County Sheriff’s Department, Kayden Barnard of Anderson came to Bean Blossom on Saturday afternoon to sell a gun to Troy Boyd of Brown County. But Boyd, Corbyn Harris of Brown County and a juvenile had plans to steal the gun instead. Barnard was shot during the robbery attempt at the Dollar General Store in Bean Blossom. He retuned fire, striking Harris, police say. Boyd and the juvenile fled from the scene, according to the sheriff’s department.

An Indiana conservation officer was the first on the scene and found both wounded. They were first taken to area hospitals for treatment, then to IU Methodist in Indianapolis.

Boyd was taken into custody Saturday evening and the juvenile fled Brown County but was arrested later that evening.

Boyd and Harris are both facing felony robbery charges. The juvenile is facing charges in juvenile court but those records are sealed.

Deputies say that a person found at the scene was detained and treated for hypothermia but then was released.
