Traffic stop leads to drug arrests in Seymour

A traffic stop Wednesday in Seymour led to the arrest of two people on drug related charges.

According to the Seymour Police Department, officers noticed a vehicle make a traffic violation at about 6:19 p.m. near West Ninth and North Elm streets. After pulling the vehicle over, police found that the driver had a suspended license. A search uncovered a firearm inside the vehicle, as well as methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police say that the driver of the vehicle told officers that he hoped to evade them.

59-year-old Jerry Blythe Jr. of Crothersville was arrested on preliminary charges for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, as well as obstruction of justice.

43-year-old Benjamin T. Kerkof of Seymour is being accused of possession of meth with a firearms enhancement as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.
