Two men arrested after gun sale armed robbery

Two men are in custody after an armed robbery over a gun sale in Greensburg that led to a weapon being fired.

According to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened Friday afternoon when deputies were called to the 7200 block of North County Road 225E at about 4:34 p.m.

The two victims from Gas City said they came to Greensburg to purchase a firearm they had found online. After meeting with two supposed sellers, Justin A. Seeley of Rushville and James L. Goodwin of Greensburg, the four test fired some weapons . Deputies say Goodwin asked one of the victims to handle and shoot a handgun carried by the victim. But when the victim turned over the gun, Goodwin allegedly pointed the weapon back at the victims and a shot was fired.

No one was injured and the victims ran away, leaving the hand gun with Goodwin.

After an investigation and about a 12-hour manhunt, Goodwin and Seely were arrested. Goodwin is being accused of robbery and criminal recklessness, while Seeley is facing a charge of conspiracy to commit robbery.

Several agencies were involved in the search and investigation including Greensburg Police Department, Rushville Police Department and Greensburg Fire Department
