Walker loses re-election bid to Trump-backed Davis

Columbus Republican State Sen. Greg Walker lost his re-election campaign for State Senate District 41, losing to State Rep. Michelle Davis of Whiteland in yesterday’s primaries.

Davis earned 53.2 percent of the vote in Bartholomew County over Walker’s 46.7 percent in unofficial vote totals. In her home Johnson County part of the district, Davis received 67 percent of the vote compared to Walker’s 33 percent.

Walker was one of five Indiana state senators who lost their primaries yesterday after voting against a mid-Census redistricting plan backed by the White House. Other Republican State Senators who bucked the redistricting plan and lost yesterday to Trump backed challengers were Dan Dernulc, Linda Rogers, Travis Holdman and James Buck.

Two Indiana state senators who voted against redistricting did win their primaries yesterday Senators Spencer Deery and Greg Goode.

Davis will face Democrat Ross Thomas in the November General Election.
