A wanted North Vernon woman was arrested Saturday at Walmart and police are thanking the public.

According to the North Vernon Police Department, officers received a report that Ashley Walters was at the store at about 3:10 p.m. Saturday afternoon. She was wanted on a warrant for failing to appear in court in Jennings County. When police confronted Walters in the parking lot, she began to argue and struggle with the officers as they attempted to take her into custody. After the struggle went to the ground, police were able to place her into handcuffs and she was placed in a patrol vehicle before being taken to the Jennings County Jail.

The police department is thanking those that witnessed the incident for giving the officers space to safely do their job. They are also suggesting that anyone with outstanding warrants should contact law enforcement and surrender voluntarily to resolve their legal matters.
